Sidebar settings

The sidebar settings tab controls how the sidebar looks and what it displays. Open Settings (by default, Cmd+, on macOS or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux; the shortcut can be changed or disabled under Hotkeys) and click the Sidebar tab.

Filter input visibility#

Show filter input controls whether the filter field appears at the top of the sidebar.

• On (default) — the filter input is shown.
• Off — the filter UI is hidden entirely. When it's off, the \ shortcut won't open it either.

Subgroup order#

Default sidebar subgroup order lets you drag the built-in subgroup order used across projects:

• Todos
• Agents
• Terminals
• Commands
• Scratchpads

Changes apply across existing projects.

Section headers#

Show section header lines and counts controls whether sidebar subgroup headers show divider lines and right-side item counts.

Hide when empty#

Empty-section visibility is controlled per built-in section:

• Todos — hide when a project has no open todos.
• Agents — hide when a project has no agents.
• Terminals — hide when a project has no terminals.
• Commands — hide when a project has no commands.
• Scratchpads — hide when a project has no unarchived scratchpads.

Each section has its own toggle, and Solo remembers your choice.

Focus#

The Focus section controls whether Solo automatically focuses eligible items when you open them from the sidebar, command palette, or notifications:

• Terminals — running terminals.
• Agents — running terminal-backed agents.
• Commands — running commands.

CPU and memory display#

The sidebar exposes separate threshold presets for:

• Project CPU usage
• Project memory usage
• Process CPU usage
• Process memory usage
• Show subprocess count

Each control uses preset buttons like Always, a few threshold values, and Never. CPU percentages use per-core process values, so they can exceed 100% on multi-core systems.

Project header quick actions#

These toggles control which hover actions appear on project headers:

• Open in editor — off by default. When enabled, the hover action appears only for a project with a per-project editor override or a configured default editor.
• Open in terminal — off by default. When enabled, the hover action appears only when a default terminal is configured.
• Reveal in Finder — on by default.

Sidebar footer#

Show settings footer controls whether the Settings button stays visible at the bottom of the sidebar.

• On (default) — footer button is shown.
• Off — the footer button is hidden, but you can still open Settings from the command palette or use the current Open settings shortcut when it is enabled (Cmd+, on macOS and Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux by default).
