Deep links

Solo registers the solo:// URL scheme, so links can point straight at a project, process, scratchpad, or todo. You can share a link in a chat message, an issue, a scratchpad, or a script. Apps that recognize custom URL schemes may make it clickable; otherwise, paste the URL into Solo's command palette or open it with your operating system. Once opened, the link brings Solo to the foreground with that exact thing selected.

Target Format Example
Project solo://proj/{projectId} solo://proj/12
Process solo://proj/{projectId}/process/{slug}--{processId} solo://proj/12/process/dev-server--34
Scratchpad solo://proj/{projectId}/scratchpad/{slug}--{scratchpadId} solo://proj/12/scratchpad/release-notes--7
Todo solo://proj/{projectId}/todo/{slug}--{todoId} solo://proj/12/todo/fix-login-flow--91

The slug before the -- separator is generated from the item's name — lowercased, non-alphanumeric characters replaced with dashes, and truncated to 20 characters. It exists purely for readability: only the numeric ID after -- is used to resolve the link, so links keep working after you rename the process, scratchpad, or todo they point to. Items with no usable name fall back to a generic slug like todo--91.

Solo offers Copy link wherever the linkable items live:

  • Right-click a project or process in the sidebar and choose Copy link.
  • Right-click a scratchpad or todo in the sidebar, or choose Copy link from the actions menu in the scratchpad view and todo detail view.
  • In the command palette, select a project, process, scratchpad, or todo Jump result and use the displayed copy-link shortcut (Cmd+C on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows). A selected process also offers Copy link in its context actions.

These actions and shortcuts put the full solo:// URL on your clipboard and confirm with a toast.

Because the scheme is registered with the operating system, apps that recognize custom URL schemes may make a solo:// URL clickable. If a browser, chat app, editor, or terminal does not, paste the URL into Solo's command palette or open it with your operating system. Opening the link launches Solo if needed, focuses the window, and navigates:

  • A project link selects the project and shows its overview.
  • A process link selects that process tab inside its project.
  • A scratchpad link opens that scratchpad.
  • A todo link opens that todo.

Links also work inside Solo itself. solo:// URLs in rendered scratchpad Markdown and in terminal output are detected and open in-app instead of being handed to a browser.

Malformed links are ignored without changing navigation or showing an error dialog. Links to deleted projects or processes also leave navigation unchanged and show no error dialog. A link to a deleted scratchpad or todo can still change the current selection, although no error dialog appears.

You can also navigate by pasting a link instead of clicking it. Open the command palette with its current binding; the defaults are Cmd+K on macOS and Ctrl+K elsewhere, and the binding can be changed or disabled. Paste a solo:// URL into the search field. Solo recognizes the link and shows a single Go result describing the destination — for example the project name and "Project overview", or the specific process, scratchpad, or todo. Press Enter to jump there.

This is handy when someone sends you a link in a context where it isn't clickable, or when you keep deep links in plain-text notes.
