Using the command palette

The command palette is Solo's quick-access hub for running actions without reaching for the mouse. By default, press Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux to open the full command center. You can remap or disable this shortcut in Settings > Hotkeys.

From here you can run global Solo actions, drill into project actions, and prefer actions from the active project when one exists — all by typing a few keywords.

Palette modes#

These are the default shortcuts. Each palette launch command can be remapped or disabled in Settings > Hotkeys.

These modes match the scope bar shown across the top of the palette. If a palette is already open, click a scope or invoke its shortcut to retarget the existing palette. Palette launch commands are blocked while a modal or pane overlay is on top.

Scoping a search to one project#

Type a full or partial project name, then >, then what you want:

myapp > restart

or

mya > resta

The part before > matches a project name. In All workspaces scope, it can also match a workspace name. The part after > matches actions and processes for the projects matched by the first part. This is a quick way to run an action in a project that isn't currently active.

Drilling into a project#

In the command center, each project has a Show actions entry. Selecting it drills into that project and shows only its actions and processes. A Back to all actions row (or Back to all destinations on the Go to tab) at the top returns you to the unscoped view, and the row notes which project you're currently scoped to.

Searching todos and scratchpads#

Quick jump includes Search todos and Search scratchpads entries for each project. Drilling into one lets you search that collection by title — or type a numeric ID to look up a specific todo or scratchpad directly.

Deep links#

Palette results on the Go to tab that map to a project, process, todo, or scratchpad can be copied as solo:// deep links: with the result selected and no text selected in the query field, press Cmd+C on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows and Linux. The footer shows a copy link hint whenever the selected result supports it.

The reverse works too: paste a valid project, process, todo, or scratchpad solo:// link into the command center or quick jump. Solo shows a Go item when the target project is inside the palette's current workspace scope. For a link to another workspace, switch to All workspaces before pasting it. Selecting Go navigates straight to the target, switching workspaces if needed. See Deep links for the link format.

Global actions#

The command center's Application section includes app-wide actions such as:

• Open settings, open Activity monitor, add a project folder
• Stop all running commands
• Enable or disable all projects (turns auto-start on or off for every project)
• Switch to the light, dark, or system theme
• Increase or decrease the application or terminal font size
• Refresh the shell environment, send feedback, quit

Theme actions only list the themes you're not currently using.

Searching across workspaces#

When you have two or more workspaces, palette searches are scoped to the current workspace by default. Press Tab (or click the scope pill above the results) to widen the search to all workspaces; matching results then show their workspace name. See Workspaces.

Tips#

• Type a few keywords to narrow the list.
• Press Enter to run the selected action.
• Use the Go to tab for destinations and the Actions tab for actions when a mode shows tabs.
• If an action you expect isn't showing up, check the current selection and the selected project or process state — some actions are only available in certain states.

On macOS and Linux, common palette actions also appear in Solo's native application menus.
