Reordering projects and sections

If you have multiple projects open, you can arrange them in any order in the sidebar. Solo saves the order and restores it between sessions.

Drag-and-drop#

1. Click and hold the project header in the sidebar.
2. Drag it up or down to the desired position.
3. Release to drop it there.

A drop indicator shows where the project will land. Projects snap into place when you release.

Project reordering is disabled while the sidebar filter is active.

Keyboard navigation between projects#

You don't need the mouse to switch between projects. Solo provides default keyboard shortcuts for jumping to visible projects:

"Jumping to" a project selects the project header and moves focus to the sidebar.

Reordering sections#

Inside an expanded project, Solo groups sidebar items into sections: Todos, Agents, Terminals, Commands, and Scratchpads. You can drag section headers to change their order for that project.

Section order is saved per project. If some empty sections are hidden by your sidebar settings, Solo keeps those hidden sections in the stored order so they reappear in a predictable place later.

This changes the section groups, not the rows inside them. To arrange command rows within the Commands section, see Reordering commands.

Collapsing projects and sections#

Use the project chevron to collapse or expand the whole project. You can also collapse individual sections inside a project. Both states are stored locally and restored between sessions.

How order is persisted#

Project order is stored locally by Solo. It survives restarts and is independent of your filesystem. If you remove and re-add a project, it loses its old position and is appended as a new primary project after the existing primary projects in that workspace by default.

Project order, section order, and collapsed states are personal — they aren't stored in solo.yml and aren't shared with teammates.

Linked checkout projects appear as separate project headers in the normal project list. They are excluded from the primary-project license count.

Tips#

• Organize projects by how frequently you use them — most-used at the top.
• Option/Alt+1 through Option/Alt+9 are the defaults and can be customized in Settings > Hotkeys.
• Project numbers follow the current visible sidebar order, so filtering can change which project is 1, 2, and so on.
• With Show filter input enabled, give the sidebar focus, make sure no overlay or text field owns the keypress, and press unmodified \ to focus the filter. Use it to find a project or command by name without changing the persisted overall order.
• Mark stopped commands as lesser used from a command row context menu when you want them hidden behind the Show lesser used commands affordance. Running lesser-used commands remain visible.
