# Projects

A project is Solo’s home for a codebase and the processes you use to work on it. Learn how to create or load projects, detect commands, keep shared setup in solo.yml, and customize how each project behaves.

## Pages

- [Creating and loading projects](/api/v1/docs/projects/creating-loading-projects) - A project in Solo is merely a folder on your disk. Adding a project links that folder to Solo so you can run and manage commands inside it.
- [Command auto-detection](/api/v1/docs/projects/command-auto-detection) - When you add a project, Solo scans the folder to detect runnable commands automatically. This saves you from typing them all in by hand. You are free to skip this auto-detection al…
- [solo.yml overview](/api/v1/docs/projects/solo-yml) - The file configures command processes. Agent sessions launch through the agent picker.
- [Project icons, names, and customization](/api/v1/docs/projects/project-customization) - Every project in Solo can have a custom name, icon, and color, and Solo displays that project identity in the sidebar.
- [Project context menu](/api/v1/docs/projects/project-context-menu) - Right-clicking a project header in the sidebar opens a native context menu with actions for that project as a whole.
- [Reordering projects and sections](/api/v1/docs/projects/reordering-projects) - If you have multiple projects open, you can arrange them in any order in the sidebar. Solo saves the order and restores it between sessions.
- [solo.yml change notifications](/api/v1/docs/projects/yml-change-notifications) - Solo watches each open project's root directory for solo.yml changes and marks the project as out of sync when the file content differs from the last synced version.
