# Key-value MCP tools

Key-value tools expose project-scoped JSON storage to MCP clients. They are off by default; turn on **Key-value tools** in **Settings > Agents > Key-value** to expose them.

## Tools

- `kv_set` — Store a project-scoped JSON value.
- `kv_get` — Read a project-scoped JSON value by key.
- `kv_delete` — Delete a project-scoped JSON value by key.
- `kv_list` — List project-scoped JSON values.

## Notes

Use key-value storage for small structured coordination state that belongs to a project. Store JSON values, not large logs or long-form notes; [scratchpads](./scratchpads.md) are a better fit for durable text.
