# Prompt template picker

The prompt template picker opens the command palette directly on **Templates**. By default, press `Cmd+Shift+P` on macOS or `Ctrl+Shift+P` on Windows and Linux. You can remap or disable **Use prompt template** in [Settings > Hotkeys](../keyboard-shortcuts/customizing.md).

It lists templates available to the active project plus global templates. Without an active project, it shows global templates only.

## Find and use a template

Search matches template names, descriptions, bodies, and the **Global** or **Project** scope label. Each result shows its name, a description or body preview, and its scope.

| Key | Action |
|-----|--------|
| `↑ / ↓` | Move through templates |
| `Enter` | Insert the selected prompt |
| `Shift+Enter` | Insert and submit the selected prompt |
| `Cmd+C` on macOS / `Ctrl+Shift+C` on Windows and Linux | Copy the rendered prompt |
| `Cmd+N` on macOS / `Ctrl+N` on Windows and Linux | Open the prompt-template library to manage templates |
| `Esc` | Close the picker |

The prompt goes to the agent or terminal input you most recently focused. If there isn't an available input, Solo copies it to the clipboard instead.

Templates with placeholders open a fill view before Solo inserts, submits, or copies the prompt. See [Using templates](../prompt-templates/using-templates.md) for placeholder navigation, insertion behavior, sorting, and fallback details.

If another palette is already open, click **Templates** in its scope bar or invoke the prompt-template shortcut to switch modes without closing it.
